I really enjoyed the story in this Guardians of the Galaxy comic book. It is different from the movies, but that’s a good thing in my book. I didn’t want to cough up $30 and get the same exact experience as the movies. If anything, this comic book enhances the movies and our love for the characters. You get to learn more about the characters in deeper ways. There is no doubt in my mind that any one who remotely likes the Guardians of the Galaxy movies will also like the Guardians of the Galaxy comic books.

Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book – Front Cover

Guardians Galaxy Comic Book Front Cover

The front cover of this Guardians of the Galaxy comic book is just awesome, featuring some of the characters that we all love from the movie: Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, and Rocket Raccoon. Oddly, they chose to leave Groot off of the front cover, but at least they put him in the back. I only think it’s odd in the sense that Groot is one of the most beloved characters and they could market better if they featured him.

Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book – Back Cover

Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Book Back Cover

If you don’t think this back cover is super cool with Rocket Raccoon jumping at you locked & loaded, there’s something off about you… Seriously, it is so cool. The art in the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book is wonderful! Finally, we get a glimpse of Groot, but a little disappointingly, just a small side profile of him.

Back cover synopsis:

“And who should answer but … a walking tree and a gun-toting raccoon? Read the stories that inspired the film — brought to you by legendary creators Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. Led by Star-Lord, the newly minted Guardians of the Galaxy include a who’s who of the mightiest — and most bizarre — protectors the stars have ever seen! Rocket Racoon, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Gamora, Adam Warlock, Mantis, the all-new Quasar. Cosmo the telepathic space dog and more take on the universe’s most dangerous menaces — and have fun while doing it! But when Major Victory and Starhawk, two members of the Guardians of the future, make their explosive returns, can the team decipher the temporal mess before they’re betrayed? And as the Skrulls’ secret invasion tears the friends apart, who will guard the galaxy from the CHurch of Universal Truth, the Badoon and King Blastaar?”
